retro jam entry


hey so I am launching this game with a rushed janky mess of let's laughingly call it a "pre-alpha" "proof of concept" for RETRO SHOCK my entry for RETRO JAM 2021 which is conceptually a "port" (in the loosest, vaguest, most abstract possible sense of that term) of System Shock/Bioshock to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System

Basically the game is an answer to the hypothetical question "What if System Shock had been released in 1994 (as it was) but for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, instead of PC? This game is my attempt on a take at what that might look like

this is at the moment a 'Shock fan-game, but as this project grows towards monetization, it will be shedding the IP and copyrighted material (like the inventory sounds and proper nouns like Edward Diego and Tri-Optimum and the name of the game itself) it is using now moving towards being original IP

I have maybe 30 minutes of gameplay, maybe, if you take your time, which is heavily slanted towards opening cutscenes and the tutorial. I will include a full list of all of the stuff that the demo/POC/pre-alpha is missing and roughly speaking when I plan on patching those things in with subsequent releases once I have slept, something I haven't done a lot of in the last seven days. also uploading more screenshots, videos, maybe some devlogs, maybe a trailer, over the coming month or so. so stay tuned!
